♥ A belated happy new year to anyone who is reading this!
♥Part of the reason for the lack of interest I have given this blog is due to me moving on to tumblr, part of it is that I simply do not know what to possibly write about any longer. I guess that I find the format on tumblr easier since I don't have to say a lot!
♥ Last week I posted a wardrobe post on EGL, for those who is interested you can find it here!
♥ I finished off my book-list from last year and started a new one. So empty!

I bought this cute necklace from a friend who makes lovely jewelry. You can see all her items here! I also bought this Music in the garden necklace, but I have yet to use it. I suppose it would have gone with the piano keys OP that I was wearing today, but the weather has been terrible so I thought a rainy umbrella was suitable...
I want the snow to come and to stay!!

It's been yet another month since I last updated, and it's not really because I've had nothing to say but simply that I have been too busy. I am trying to focus on my school work so that I will get everything done properly (like a good girl).
I spent a long weekend in Stockholm with Josephine and Maria, which was fantastic. I enjoyed our anniversary meetup very much! It's been 5 years since I started the Swedish Lolita Forum, and 10 years since I first discovered lolita fashion. I can't believe it's been so long, but that's how it is! I am very grateful to all our forum members for our big-ass meetups, our smaller intimate meetups, our lolita fleamarket and of course for everyone being active online!

My style have changed a lot over the years obviously, and while I have not fallen out of love with lolita yet, I am trying to expand my wardrobe a bit with other styles. Lately I have been buying a lot of items from Black Milk, which is as far from lolita as possible, but still so awesome. I never ever thought leggings would make me happy, but these do!

Our apartment is cold and it makes me sleepy. Autumn is dark and it makes me sleepy. I am tired of schoolwork and it makes me sleepy.
Lately, I really just want to sleep.
Last week we were in Stockholm to see Jean Michel Jarre, who was absolutely fabulous live. I don't think I have ever been that happy at a concert! It was also nice to be in Stockholm with Joakim, the past few years I have traveled there without him, and even though I meet my friends there I can feel a little bit lonely.

I will go back to Stockholm in 2 weeks, for the 5th year anniversary of our Swedish Lolita forum. This time I will get to see Josephine, whom I long for very much!

I am staying indoors today, listening to the rain and the wind rattling our windows. Our apartment is so cold that we bundle up in blankets, throws and comforters at every opportunity. I feel tired and weary, I guess if I could put my life on pause for a while I would do it now.
Since I can't do that, you can have some Balthasar instead.

I turn 24 today! I'm celebrating with cake and fabulous dinner with my friends and family (as usual!). Joakim woke me up this morning with presents and breakfast, and I've felt spoiled in the best way all day.

Is this obsession?

Some people think it's silly to own more than one piece of the same print. I am obviously not one of these people... The skirt is an older version of the logo print, and is a new addition to my wardrobe. It's made of soft jersey material and is very comfortable.
Now I would only like the tricolor version of the same series as the skirt (and maybe the black version of the 2006 logoprint?), and then I'm satisfied!

Sleepyhead

I went to the dentist today to have two cavities fixed. It was very early in the morning and I could hardly keep my eyes up. It helped a lot I think, I couldn't be bothered to worry about injections or anything, I was almost asleep with my mouth open!
It's been a long time since I posted an outfit snap. It's now cold and dark outside, and we haven't had this much rain in decades.

Winter and rabbits

I recently received this dress in the mail, and I am quite helplessly enamoured with it. I already own the black skirt version of this print, which is also incredibly lovely but I do prefer this one. The colours of the striped fabric and the velvet print are so special, and the wintery feelings of the fur collar and long sleeves with fur cuffs suits me well, since I live in a place where we've got snow half of the year.

The days are just flying by, I don't understand where all the time goes! I spent the weekend in our cottage with Klara and Cissi, we completely lucked out on the weather and had a great night! This time of the year I love going out there, there's something special about the colours and the clear air. We went picking mushrooms and even found some to eat (and a whole lot that I wouldn't eat if someone paid me) and we spent the night by the fire watching the stars, satellites and the Milky Way.

Balthasar, greyskull and the great hunger

The guys we adopted earlier in summer. It took us a while to decide on their names, but in the end we chose Gråskull/Greyskull (like He-man's castle) for leftie and Balthasar for rightie (for no specific reason other than that it suited him. He looks like an old man with sideburns).
They have both lost a lot of weight and are getting along good. They are, however, CRAZY about food! They will start shrieking for more food like 5 minutes after they've finished their dinner! Limpan will only ask for food when it's actual meal-time, but these two guys wants food all. The. Time.

Me and Joakim had our first real class at the university yesterday and it was nice! Afterwards we had lunch and then headed to the library for the book we have to read by next lesson. I will be doing so much reading again this semester...At least two books per week.
Part of me wishes that I had time to read for leisure too, but if I do I will only have time for reading and nothing else!

I came home from Stockholm yesterday morning and I slept through most of the day. I can't believe I jet-lagged I become just from a weekend outside of my usual routines. I loved it though! Maria made a post about our impromptu lolita picknick/fleamarket with a lot of nice pictures.
I almost didn't pack anything for the trip besides underwear, tights and a cardigan. Instead I borrowed clothes every day from Maria, and I'm terribly grateful for that! It felt so much better to wear new and interesting things every day, despite them not being my style. Very refreshing!
I didn't do as much shopping as I thought I would (or at least wanted to!), but I did end up with an Innocent world floral JSK, a Metamorphose cardigan and two Jane Marple rings from Maria and an Arcade Fire t-shirt as well as a bunch of small presents for Joakim. I simply could not resist the Megaman boss-shaped straps!

Arcade Fire was amazing live, just like the last time. It was so worth going! Me and Tokis sat far off but with a good view and we had donuts&coffee, it was generally very cozy and perfect! They played all the songs I wanted to hear the most.

School starts this week, crazy stuff.

Lack of lust, lack of inspiration

In 24 hours I will be on the train to Stockholm, and I've still no idea what to pack. Lately I've had no inspiration for clothes, I sincerely wish I could just go naked or in pajamas all day.
I hope I will get inspired by shopping in Stockholm, I will get paid tomorrow and can spend freely for once! I want to buy a lot of hats, jewelry and cardigans.
In Stockholm we will be going to Stockholms biggest fleamarket as well as attend a lolita swapmeet/picknick. The main reason I'm going however is to see Arcade fire live at Popaganda!

Klara moved out the other day to go back to her studies, and next week my summer courses finish and my own fall semester will start. I will be taking English and Comparative literature, because apparently I haven't had enough of reading yet...

I've got another cold and it's driving me nuts. I can't stop coughing! Tomorrow I have another day of work and I hope I'll be ok. If I were my own boss I'd send myself home when I heard my cough. I sound as if I'm dying.

Face of procrastination

I've had a week (and more) to work on my schoolwork but my inspiration has been zero. I've never procrastinated as hard. Today I wrote and finished up my group work assignment, and my group members were quite as bad as I at being late! We were pretty awesome though and finished up everything in a day and are done in time. My other course assignment I gave up on and I'll throw myself into the late-discussion groups as soon as it opens up instead. I'm quite ready to take it on now.
Yesterday we had dinner out, wine and good company and ended the evening with snacks and Silent Hill 2. Life could be worse! The coming week I will work a lot and I need to spend the nights reading so I will have no time for anything else...

(I am very excited over the upcoming A/W collections, I can't wait for cooler weather so I can start wearing clothes again!)

Yesterday we went to a summer café where they also keep some animals. It's one of my silly dreams to be able to one day keep animals. Maybe not pigs, but I would love to keep angora rabbits and british giants! While they're not as big as pigs or sheep, they're not really something you can keep in the apartment...

I was going to write a post about our trip to Kebnekaise, but it's been almost a week since I came home and I haven't done it yet! There are too many pictures to post and none of them quite describes how gorgeous Sweden can be. Since I came home I've done a test for school, worked two days, been with my friends and had sushi (omnomnom) and yesterday me and Klara saw the last Harry Potter movie. It does not disappoint!

I took a car ride with my mother to buy hay for the guineapigs, we ended up taking a (pretty long) detour out in the country to get coffee and buy flowers at this art-café!
I love the coffee cups Fleur by Gustavsberg (the name suits the surroundings!), and the lingonberry cake was delicious! We also went thrifting and I got 3 books by Agatha Christie for 2 sek each.

Yesterday was my last day at work for a while! Now I've got 12 days off to catch up on schoolwork and maybe leave town for a few days. Today me and Joakim will take the bikes to his parents place and have dinner, and maybe later we will see Transformers 3 at the cinema.
This summer is our 6th summer together! We usually don't celebrate our anniversaries, but I always keep count. This means we've spent a fourth of our lives together...crazy!

finally had my long overdue hair cut, and it feels so nice! I've missed short hair so much.
been reading a lot, but I still have so much more to read(stress, stress, stress).
worked last weekend and will work this weekend and then the 2 weekends after that.
shopped until I dropped and then shopped some more.
managed to stain two of my favorite dresses, and I'm not sure I will ever forgive myself.
spent a lot of time on the balcony with sparkling wine and/or mojitos.
seen X-men First class. Twice.

A swim in the sea

I took my first dip in the sea since last year, and it was oh so cool but oh so satisfying! It was too cold to actually swim, but I've longed for 8 months to bathe outdoors again so I feel happy!

Todays dramatic events

I took Cosmos out for a walk today, which both of us enjoyed (sunlight and tall grass, everything we need!). However, Cosmos managed to leap over my back and superjump onto the concrete while I was carrying him from the park. He broke a claw while doing it and bled all over me in the process. I think I was more chocked than Cosmos who didn't even flinch, and most chocked I think anyone who were watching was. I sacrificed my cardigan to wrap the rabbit up in a bundle and carry him home, the guineapigs got their dinner and all is well.

If anyone wonders why I posts pictures of the pigs more often than of Cosmos, it's simply because he moves too damn much, and my camera is slowwww.

(oh and I dyed my hair brown, but the red still shines through in sunlight. A lot.)

Coffee and comic books are my companions in my longing for summer. In summer I will start studying again, I'll have more work and more money and less time to spend thinking. I try to cherish this last month of having nothing to do, but even freedom gets boring when you have it for too long.

These past few days I spent 33 hours on the train and 33 hours in Stockholm. I went as a kind of surprise (even I was surprised!), thanks to Josephine.
When I finally got home yesterday my new Black Milk galaxy leggings were in the mail. How gorgeous are these?

The almighty Thor

We just came home from watching Thor and I enjoyed it very much! It was even better than I expected (although I've learned to not have high expectations when it's marvel/comic films... I love them but when they're bad, they're BAD). I'm not a fan of 3d effects but they were subtle in this and didn't bother me much, and they were AMAZING while the end credits rolled. It was unadultered galaxy-pr0n. I would probably be happy with 2 hours of only shooting through space.
Now I'm looking forward to X-men First class and then Captain America, not to mention The Avengers next year!

Today I invited some friends over and cooked palt! Palt is one of my favorite foods since forever, and I only recently learned how to make it myself. I've always seen my mother make it so it's pretty easy, but it never turns out like hers anyway. The next time I'd like to make blodpalt, which is slighly more gross since it contains blood, but I think it's very tasty!
Last week I made the worlds most delicious lasagna. It was so good that I'm afraid I won't be able to ever make it quite that good again.
I've been enjoying cooking a lot lately (not that I'm a great cook), and it's nice to cook for others than me and Joakim once in a while!

I shouldn't have said anything about the weather yesterday... JINX. Today it's been snowing all day. I braved the slush and went out for coffee with Cissi and wore my (kind of) new skirt.
This print is a dream print of mine, and I'm super happy that I could get it. I still want either the OP or the JSK too, but I'm satisfied for a while!

Images are from the April issue of SPOON magazine, but this will probably come out on the blogs any time. I love anything with rabbits on it (in case you haven't already noticed), and these two prints are SO CUTE. I love, love, love the umbrella print especially, the rabbit head-shaped handles are so whimsical and perfect. I'm curious to know what other colors the second print will come in, and it's so unusual to see realistic looking rabbits in prints.

I biked today for the first time this year! It was so damn cold though, I guess spring is still not here yet.
Me and Joakim went to the red cross and I bought a bag full of curtain rings and 4 books for only 18 sek. For some reason curtain rings are really expensive new? Thank god for thrift stores! I also got a pair of teal mocca gloves on sale, because my old pair are so worn out they've got holes in them. Perhaps it's time to let them go...

I woke up late today because the blinds were drawn (I usually wake up from the sun shining in through the window), and I've spent the day with a painful headache and hazy mind. I've had headaches more frequently recently but I'm not sure why. It's possible that it's caffeine-withdrawal, since I've only had coffee irregularly lately. It disturbs me because I don't like being addicted.
It shouldn't be a problem though because I really, really, really like coffee.
I just need to remember to drink it.

Diana Wynne Jones has passed away from lung cancer. She's been a favorite author of mine since I was a kid, and now I'm left with an empty hole in my heart and tears in my eyes.
Neil Gaiman wrote the most beautiful blog entry about her here which I think you should read if you are a fan, or even if you're not.
Rest in peace, Diana.

The poster for the lolita flea market is done, and this year it's made by Josephine! So cute isn't it? I will not be attending personally this time since I can't get to Stockholm, but if you have the opportunity to go, I think you should! it's sure to be a great time.

I met up with Cissi today for coffee and chatting and the man who sat right behind me at the cafe was eavesdropping on our conversation the entire 2 hours we were there. I hope he had a good time listening to our babbling!

Arabesque 2011 and the past weeks

I got the new Arabesque today! I've been looking forward to it since the last number. I'm going to read it a little bit at the time to make it last.
The past weeks I've felt less than fabulous, not to mention I got sick a week ago and I've spent my days indoors with my nose in a book. Taking a break from reality is fine, but now I'm trying to get back on track and I've applied for courses at the university for both summer and fall. I'm hoping I get in, because I don't know what to do if I don't!

I've been working 3 days in a row, and of course it's been the 3 sunniest and warmest days of winter. Now I'm finally free to do whatever so I will take a walk to town, visit the library and do some window shopping! I'm looking forward to not put on an extra cardigan and not wear my ugly but warm winter boots.

It's payday and we celebrated by going out for dinner. It's been so cold out the past weeks that going out as a been a chore, even I who love winter grow tired of it with -20/-25 degrees for two weeks! Instead I've been re-reading Isaac Asimov, who is one of my favorite authors ever. I have a very weak spot for old sci-fi, and there's no denying that Asimov was one of the best. And the best thing with Asimov is that he wrote so much that I will never run out of his books and short stories! (and if/when I do, I don't mind reading them again...and again)

I've had a not-so-great week for various reasons, and I was happy when Friday finally came. My mother invited me and my sister for dinner and the Snow white-musical as a christmas gift so first we went to a fancy restaurant and had a nice dinner. I had löjrom(vendace roe) for starters, a stake and then creme brulee for dessert. God I love creme brulee.
I liked the musical, the costumes were amazing! The stepmother/queen was pretty awesome too.

Saturday we went to an Alice themed birthday party. Joakim went as the White rabbit and I was, well. Alice. At 3 in the morning the last people were leaving by taxi, except me and Joakim who had already decided to go home by foot, 7 kilometers in -24° celsius. It's never been so good to creep into bed like after that walk.

Oh so tired. Visiting grandma. Riding in the car at sunset, going home. -20° outside, frost on the car window and frost on the trees...

I finally finished the shawl I started working on a week ago. I admit that I got lazy in the end, I had to re-do the crochet edges so many times because I managed to make the base too small when knitting. I was very worried that I'd run out of yarn before I finished, since it's one of a kind and I couldn't find something that matched it for the life of me.
Well, I'm pretty happy with the result in the end! And it was a fun project, I want to make another one but better.

Getting a scarf with knits on poupee felt highly appropriate since I'm halfway through my own homemade scarf! Today I'm going to find a matching yarn so that I can crochet scallops on the edges and make tassels for all three corners.

Suddenly the temperature rose with 15 degrees and it's no longer freezing outside. It's not spring by far, but it's a taste of what's to come in a few months. I like winter in many ways, but god knows even I get tired of it. I could take a walk without freezing my face off today, and oh I've missed it!
Yesterday I go inspired by Marias amazing My little pony-hair and threw in some pink extensions I had lying around. I'm not planning on keeping them for very long, but it's fun!

I was looking through a KERA magazine that I sold before sending it off, and this outfit caught my eye. Bright fuschia mixed with red and purple, not what I'd usually love but I adore this! Fuschia is a color that I've disliked since forever but it's been growing on me. It's gaudy and makes me think of old ladies (last week there was not one but TWO ladies on the same bus as me, both wearing all fuschia accessories), but it's also cheerful and happy!
A color that makes me smile must be a good color, (even if it kind of hurts my eyes).

I managed to get out of bed slightly earlier than usual today, and instead of sleeping in like I usually do I could spend the morning slowly cleaning the apartment, getting dressed and have breakfast and coffee while talking to my friends on MSN. I even had time to sew! Today I am off into town for coffee with Cissi (unusual...) and buying materials. And maybe shoes.

Rosewood yarn

I've been wanting to make a new shawl to wear over my winter coat, and today I went hunting for yarn on Etsy. I found this lovely hand-dyed merino yarn and I couldn't possible resist getting it. I spent a good few hours deciding which color I wanted. I settled for this Rosewood shade, which will be gorgeous for spring!
I can't wait to get knitting.

This one is very similar to the second dress, but with a cute ribbon bodice. Since both of these fabrics I've used are quite thick, I've pleated the skirt portions instead of ruffling it. I think it makes for a nicer silhouette too!

A simple brown twill dress, which was actually supposed to have short sleeves at first, but I changed my mind halfway through and went with the shoulder straps instead. It's a loose fit and feels a bit like a salopette when worn!

Emily temple cute released a new biscuit print! I love the subtle dots in the background and the multicolored ribbons, I love the photorealistic biscuits. Most of all I adore the cutlery and the scalloped necklines. The bag is huge and round and tells me it would be perfect in my wardrobe... The big necklace to top it all off, the perfect icing on the cake (biscuit).

Every window in our apartment has the same view, the ironworks. I think it's beautiful in a industrial, romantic way and I never get tired of looking at it and the smoke and fires. Summer, winter, during the morning, the day or night, it's always pretty to look at!

Overcome by some creative spirit, I threw together yet another dress. I'm on a roll! This one I wore for New years dinner with Joakim's family. I had a great evening with good food, wine and fun company. Me and Joakim watched the fireworks from the balcony and went to sleep half an hour after midnight.
This morning when I got up at 6.00 for work, the world was covered with a soft layer of snow and I don't regret my quiet night at home at all.
I don't usually make new years resolution, but this year I will try to make better than last year!

I went and checked out LUSHs sale, and ended up two big boxes full of goodies richer. I was only going to get a birthday gift for my brothers girlfriend, but they had all their Christmas gifts at ½ price. I couldn't help myself and spent my present giftcard that I got from my boss!
Happy Christmas (red box) contained Butterball, Dragon's egg and Cinders bath ballistic, Sexy peel soap, Christmas Eve bubble bar and Mandarin's tea party soap.
You're a star contained Aqua Mirabilis body butter, Dream cream body lotion (my favorite!), Floating Island and Ceridwen's cauldron bath melts, Ma Bar bubble bar slice, Honey I washed the kids soap (another favorite) and Helping hands hand cream.
No I'm not obsessed, not at all.
(and now my home smells like a LUSH boutique...)

Stuck in books

I've been re-reading Lord of the rings the past week, I think for the 6th or 7th time. It's one of my big loves since I was a kid, but it's a while since I read it now. I'd forgotten how much I like it! When I've finished the last of the trilogy off, I'm gonna read People of the Book, which was recommended and lent to me by Klara. I've also promised her that one of these days we're gonna see Iron man 2, because she hasn't seen it yet! I want to catch Narnia; The voyage of dawn threader on cinema too...

My Christmas was almost perfect, except for a minor incident which had us move location at the last minute. I very much enjoyed myself, though I went home and slept early since I had work the morning after. Next week we've been invited to dinner at a restaurant by grandma, which I'm much looking forward to!

Today I'm going to visit my friend for lunch and then I'm having dinner with my family. We are all helping out with the cooking and I got the honorable task of making egg halves with shrimps(...) I bet they don't trust my cooking! Well I assure you that I'm at least quite capable of both boiling eggs and assembling the shrimp/mayo/dill.
Joakim will sleep at his parents place tonight, and I have to work tomorrow morning. I'm not looking forward to spending Christmas night alone at home but hopefully the day will be pleasant enough that I don't mind!
I made this dress as a last minute solution to not having anything to wear, now I never want to sew chiffon ever again...

Merry Christmas everyone!

Since me and Joakim won't be spending the night together (Joakim will be with his family, and I will be with mine), we already opened our presents! Joakim got a Super Mario-tshirt and a poster with every game consol ever made, and I got a peach bra&panties set from topshop that I wanted. I also got myself a new Emily temple cute-hairpin ;3.
My mother got me this tiny but very much real tree at IKEA, although I wasn't planning on having one. It's cute though, isn't it?

This summer Joakim bought a keyboard, and ever since I've been meaning to bring out my old scores and start playing again. Yesterday I finally rummaged through the storage and happened to come across my old piano box while looking for something completely different.
I haven't played for years now, and I'm very rusty. I may never become a great pianist, but it's a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
I really do miss having a real piano. Some day!

Christmas feelings

Christmas is approaching fast, and every day I feel my love/hate relationship with the season growing stronger. I hate the materialism, I hate feeling as if I have to buy gifts for everyone I know and I hate the forced traditions. I keep the Christmas decorations at home to a minimum, right now I've got a total of 1 star in the livingroom window and my grandmothers handembroidered doilies laid out. To fight the darkness and cold I light candles instead.
This year my family has once again decided to not buy any presents, which is a big relief.
I still get all the parts of Christmas that I enjoy, namely; Glögg, saffronsemlor, juleskum and I get to see my family a lot. Not to mention the ham. I cannot resist the ham.

Igår fick jag hem min nya vinterkappa! Jag köpte den begagnad på auktion, men märket är Mary Magdalene. Den är vackert hundtandsmönstrad i brunt, med sammetsknappar och sammetsdetaljer i ärmsluten och kragen samt sammetsband som snörning i ryggen.
Den är 100% ull men jag är ändå lite orolig att jag ska frysa i vinter då den är tunnare än min gamla kappa. Kanske köper jag en cape som jag kan svepa om mig när det är extra kyligt ute.

Translation: My new coat is here! I bought it used from a japanese auction, but the brand is Mary Magdalene. It's got a beautiful brown houndstooth pattern, velvet buttons as well as velvet details at the cuffs and the back. It is made of 100% wool, but since the fabric is thinner than my old coat, I am worried that I might get chilly during winter. Maybe I should get a cape to warm me during the colder days.

My dad had an errand out on an island just off the coast and he asked me if I wanted to join him. The island was beautiful but cold and we had coffee and cinnamonrolls together with the people living there.
In the 2 houses in the picture above there lives only 3 people! A man in is 60's and his parents in their 80's (as well as their beautiful dog). I think it's impressive that they live there all year round, their lifestyle is so different from our own. I just wonder what they do with all that extra space, those houses are huge.
